Perfect for family dinners or a fun twist on pizza night.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Mixture

  • 2 cups ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup pizza sauce

Pie Assembly

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1 cup refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for greasing pie dish)
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F to ensure it reaches the ideal temperature for baking the pie crust to a golden finish.
  2. Cook Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for about 5-7 minutes until fully cooked, then drain excess fat to keep the filling from becoming greasy.
  3. Season Beef: Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper, then add pizza sauce and mix well. Remove skillet from heat to prepare for assembly.
  4. Prepare Pie Crust Base: Grease a pie dish with olive oil, then press half of the pizza dough evenly into the bottom and up the sides of the dish to form the pie crust base.
  5. Assemble Filling: Spoon the cooked beef mixture into the dough-lined pie dish, then layer shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the beef, followed by a layer of sliced pepperoni.
  6. Top with Dough: Roll out the remaining pizza dough and place it over the filled pie, carefully sealing the edges to enclose the filling and create a pie top.
  7. Apply Egg Wash: Brush the top of the dough with the beaten egg to promote browning and a glossy finish during baking.
  8. Bake the Pie: Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Cool and Serve: Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes to set before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For crispier pepperoni, you can lightly sauté sliced pepperoni before layering.
  • Substitute mozzarella with a blend of cheeses for added flavor complexity.
  • Make sure to seal the edges tightly to prevent filling leakage during baking.
  • Allow the pie to cool slightly to avoid burning your mouth with the hot filling.
  • Refrigerated pizza dough can be substituted with homemade dough if desired.
