Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 2 tubes refrigerated crescent rolls

For the Creamy Topping:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tbsp sour cream
  • 2 tbsp jarred salsa

For the Taco Meat:

  • 1 1/4 lb ground beef
  • 1 envelope taco seasoning

For the Toppings:

  • 3 to 4 diced roma tomatoes
  • 4 to 5 oz shredded cheddar jack cheese
  • 1/2 oz bag shredded lettuce

Instructions

  1. Bake the Crescent Roll Base: Preheat the oven to 350°F as directed by the crescent roll package. Unroll the crescent rolls onto a cookie sheet, covering the surface and sealing seams by pinching. Bake until golden brown and let the base cool completely before assembling. You may also cover it lightly with a paper towel and leave it to cool overnight at room temperature.
  2. Prepare the Taco Meat: While the crust cools, brown 1 1/4 lb ground beef in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Once cooked through, drain excess fat. Add 1 envelope of taco seasoning along with the water amount indicated on the packet. Stir to combine and simmer for a few minutes until the meat is well coated and sauce thickens. Set aside and allow to cool slightly.
  3. Prepare the Toppings: Dice 3 to 4 roma tomatoes into bite-sized pieces. In a medium bowl, mix together 8 oz softened cream cheese, 3 tbsp sour cream, and 2 tbsp jarred salsa until smooth and well blended. This mixture serves as the creamy base sauce for the pizza.
  4. Assemble the Crescent Taco Pizza: Spread the creamy salsa mixture evenly over the cooled crescent roll crust. Layer the taco meat evenly over the cream cheese spread. Distribute diced tomatoes on top, followed by sprinkling 4 to 5 oz shredded cheddar jack cheese. Finish with a generous layer of shredded lettuce, placing slightly more cheese and lettuce in the center for extra flavor.
  5. Serve: Cut the completed taco pizza into equal squares and serve immediately for the best fresh flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Ensure the crescent roll crust is completely cooled before adding toppings to prevent sogginess.
  • You can prepare the taco meat and creamy sauce ahead of time to simplify assembly.
  • Feel free to customize toppings by adding jalapeños, black olives, or avocado slices.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated, although the crust may lose some crispness.
  • Adjust the amount of shredded cheese and lettuce based on personal preference for texture and flavor intensity.
